With the increase of China's economic strength,"Chinese fever" has swept the world,Chinese has become an important language tool,and the cause of Chinese international education is also developing rapidly.The Philippines was one of the first countries in southeast Asia to establish a Chinese school,and also the first place under the "Chinese teacher volunteer" program of hanban/Confucius institute.Chinese education in the Philippines has made great achievements in the past 100 years,but there are many problems in the process of development.Based on a brief review of the history of Chinese education,this paper makes a comparative analysis of the current situation of Chinese education in the Philippines.First of all,Confucius institutes in mainstream universities in the Philippines offer diversified and targeted courses for Chinese majors,which can meet the needs of different learners.However,there are only a small number of universities in the Philippines offering Chinese majors.Secondly,the article mainly analyzes the current situation of Chinese language education in the Philippines from the aspects of teachers,textbooks and teaching methods,and finds that there are a shortage of Chinese language teachers in primary and secondary schools in the Philippines,the lack of professionalism of teachers,the difficulty of Chinese language teaching materials,the mismatch between Chinese language teaching and students' Chinese language level,and the monotonous and obsolete teaching methods in Chinese language.Thirdly,it analyzes the current situation of Chinese education from the perspective of the non-governmental Chinese education institutions represented by the Chinese education center in the Philippines.The existence of non-governmental education institutions has greatly promoted the development of Chinese education in the Philippines.At the same time,based on the analysis of the current situation of Chinese education in the Philippines,some countermeasures are put forward.Finally,from the perspective of Chinese learning needs and "One Belt And One Road",this paper tries to explore the future development trend of Chinese education in the Philippines.
