Jingpo Long Knife Dance Materials

Long-knife dance of the Jingpo nationality is the research object of this thesis. Based on the research of the predecessors, according to literature, information, legacy and the author's grassroots research paper, using the methods of dancing, history, ethnology and education, the author tries to vertically investigate into the development of the long-knife dance and horizontally analyze its categories, characteristics, in order to find out its training value and education significance. On this basis, the author forms a systematic teaching material of the long-knife dance, which is used to guide the teaching process. Besides, if one can mouse out the common rule of arranging and compiling the teaching material of the Chinese ethnic dances, it will be more meaningful.This thesis is divided into proceeding, four chapters and the conclusion. The proceeding gives a main idea of the research point, importance, research material and methods of this essay.The first chapter: analyzes the long-knife dance's resource and divisions from the aspects of the status and function of the long knife in social development of the jingpo nationality (tool of production and making lives, arms for fight, property of dancing, the divinity of the long knife, the fetch of the jingpo's men) and the history of this dance (the formation and development of the long-knife dance). The author gets theconclusion that the formation of the long-knife dance has some connection with the ancient arms fight and the imitation of work and living process. Its formation and development are influenced by the natural and social environment of the jingpo nationality, and is the inevitable outcome of the jingpo's social development.The second chapter: Combining the predecessors' research outcome, literature and materials and the author's grassroots investigation into the jingpo municipality in Longchuan and Ruili, this essay introduces different sorting methods of the long-knife dance provided by the predecessors. On this basis, the author tries to come up with new classifying methods, which is the method of combining the function of the dancing and the number of dancers, so as to make a teaching material through the dancing characteristics. According to this method, the author divides the long-knife dance into single entertaining dance and collective sacrificing dance and analyzes their art characteristics respectively.The third chapter: analysis of the shapes of the long-knife dance. First, from the aspect of the dancing movements, this essay points out the long-knife dance have the moving characteristics of making the body moving forward and backward through the two knees bending and stretching toughly and stretching the crotch from the behind, as while as the one-sided movement and the imitation of the gestures and characteristic of peacocks. The author also indicates that the formation ofthese characteristics has close relation with the living environment and the living style of the jingpo people. Second, this thesis analyzes the long-knife dance's character of having the beauty of strength and its ancient simplicity from the aspect of aesthetics. Meanwhile, it research deeply into the cultural characteristics of the long-knife dance and makes the summarizes the following points: old culture and the left-over of the ancient Chinese war. At last, summarizes and introduces the clothes, props and music used in the long-knife dance.The fourth chapter: On the basis of the common rule of composing dancing materials (the collection, choice, picking, refining and arrangement of materials), the existing teaching material, the author forms a systematic teaching material of the long-knife dance, which is used to guide the teaching process, combing the dance's characteristics, training value and the author's grassroots investigation.The end is the conclusion: summary of the outcome of this thesis.The new view of this thesis is that it elaborates one art form using many kinds of research methods, including dance, history, ethnology and education, trying to make the investigation complete and meticulous.
