In the prologue, I introduced the general ideas of Mao Zedong's ethic thoughts in his early times with the method of historical analysis. Mao's ethic thoughts are discussed from this angle, that is, the impact and combination between Chinese culture and western culture. When Mao was young, he was influenced by two cultural traditions: Chinese traditional culture and western enlightening culture in modern times. In the first part, the background of the age was present. At that time, China was in peril. For the independence and liberation of our nation, the advanced intellectuals learned from the western countries. Youth Mao was grown and educated in such kind of situation. His ethic thoughts were influenced by two factors, the spirit of Chinese traditional culture and the spirit of western enlightening culture. In the second part, the main ideas of Mao's ethic thoughts in his early times are introduced. Mao hoped to change the national temperament by reconstructing philosophy and ethnics in order to realize the moral revolution and perfect personality. In the third part, the limitation and advancement of Mao's ethic thoughts in his early times are analyzed. Mao's early ethic thoughts were limited in Confucian mentalism, which was heroism in essence. Mao's early ethic thoughts boost the development of Chinese ethnics in modern times and contributed to Mao's later theory of "be true to facts". Finally, I put forward a revelation: valuing the function of Chinese traditional culture and protecting Chinese traditional culture.
