Since 1978, the local color novel has been one focus of contemporary literature research, but, different literature thoughts and literature views have resulted in different local color novel views. So a scientific and unify theory frame must be established. This paper firstly analyzes the local color novel views which are dated, and takes the local color novel views under the modernity theory as the scientific and unify theory frame. So this thesis approves that every novels which describes the villages and farmers throughout the course of the modernizations is a local color novel.The local color novels at the beginning of the new century continue the tendency of 1990s and gain new achievements. This paper elaborates on them in the following three aspects: criticism of reality, culture criticism and reflection of history.The local color novel writers represented by Sun Huifen, Luo Weizhang and Chen Yingsong, go on describing the hard circumstances and mind distortion of rural workers. Their example encourages more writers to compose rural worker novels.The local color novel writers represented by Huang Jianguo, Yan Lianke, reveal and criticize all kinds ofaberration of the small farmers' consciousness under the conditions of market economy. Because of the regrets for the social reality, Sun Huifen rebuild a moral home town with Utopia narration effusing her refusal to the city civilization. And Jia Pingwa says goodbye to his ideal of culture reformation, the novel Qin Qiang sings an elegy of traditional culture.Against the history fantasy of new historicism novels, Liu Xinglong recalls the power of realism, he wants to deconstruct the revolution-history narration on the base of history realities. But Tiening expresses her strong disapproval of deconstruction the revolution-history narration, she takes folk culture as her view, and takes daily life as her means, to rebuild a new kind of revolution-history narration ascribing revolution and war to the people's own choosing.
