Analysis From The "analects" Gentlemen's Personality Modern Moral Personality

No activity in the society could take place without human beings which has been considered to be the principal part of the society. "How can a human being become a human being?" the question of shaping one's moral personality has been discussed and been sought for by thinkers all thought the ages. At the present time, we have been forced to reconsider the question of how to shape our moral personality to fit the development of times by the situation that losing of moral value, short of moral sensibility, passiveness of moral behavior, disjointing of moral cognizing with moral practice and the downtrend of moral level in society. It has been an important question in promoting the process of Chinese modernization. A country that merely realizing modernization on the material level without a proceeding of shifting their moral personality form tradition to modern can difficultly join the ranks of modern country which has ability of sustainable development. Thus, shaping modern moral personality is not only a pure theoretical question but also a question that has far-reaching realistic meaning.It is well known that tradition culture which has been accumulated in national consciousness and national action regulation is a part of national mentality and national character, as well as conduct and influence people's lives. Each nation has its different national tradition culture which directly or indirectly influences every individual of the nation. The thinking of individuals is also formed by the influence of tradition culture. Confucius is the founder of gentleman personality; his thinking not only has deeply and continually effect in the ancient country but also has a close relationship of process of Chinese modernization. This paper begins with simply differentiating and analyzing personality, moral personality and gentleman personality; then analyzing the appearance and main meaning of the gentleman personality of analects of Confucius; finally, analyzing the useful thought of gentleman personality in the Analects of Confucius for shaping modern moral personality from the view of immutability of personality value such as ceremony, humanity, cognition and bravery and so on.
