It is a good way to develop our health education to learn successful experiences of other countries. Abhram Maslow(1908-1970), who was an American health psychologist and health education theoretician, proceeded other experts in the field of health cognition study at the time. His theory deeply affected the development of theory and practice of health education in United States and the whole word. The needs hierarchy theory is the mainstay of Maslow's humanistic health education theory.This dissertation aims at understanding and grasping the recent trends in American health education, realizing and reflecting the present situation in Chinese health education, providing some references for Chinese health education.The introduction discusses the questions that will be studied, documents about Maslow's idea of the humanistic health education, the purpose and significance of this research, contents, study methods and the structure of this dissertation.From the view of comparative education, using many methods, the dissertation analyzes the background for the formation of Maslow's idea of the humanistic health education from American particular time and space background and Maslow's personal education and research background. Furthermore, the dissertation discusses and analyzes the basic theory and characteristics of Maslow's idea of the humanistic health educationAt the end of the dissertation, I put forward some advices on Maslow's idea of the humanistic health education in China, which could be helpful in researches and policy-making of health issues of our country.
