Every reformation in the Visual Arts in the modern West tended to have great impacts on the theories and practice of the Visual Arts in China, whether it is the criticism, the concept, or the linguistic forms in the circle of art. Against the context of globalization, in order to have a comparative impersonal knowledge of the surviving environment of the art and find a proper way to create arts, and further to make some breakthrough, it is of great necessity for the Chinese artists to have a clear and abundant knowledge of the context of the Western Arts.Along the history of the Western Arts, the Normal Taste is the aesthetic judgement which accords the public ideals. It runs through the classical models, carrying man's common beliefs and his spiritual pursuit of nobility, and serving as the conventional criterion of judging the values of arts and the ideal art Taste. Therefore, it is only natural that the works of art from the past to the very present belong to and should belong to the mainstream. However, it is also undeniable that the works of Abnormal Taste, as a profitable contribution to the mainstream, make the circle of the Visual Arts more colourful. The Abnormal Taste in the Visual Arts in the West began to appear during the period of Renaissance in the Europe, and continued to develop and stir in the modern society. What's more, it serves as an important lure in the appearance and development of the concept of"Visual Arts". The Abnormal Taste is another dimension of art, the rebelling factor in the noumenon of art. The present thesis analyzes the special psychological basis of the Abnormal Taste from the perspective of the directions of the transcendence in the interior subject, of the psychological foundations of creation and of aesthetical psychology. Based on this, the present thesis also tries to study the historical facts about the artists and the construction of works of art, and proceeds to analyze the close relationship of the Abnormal Taste with the subject and the psychology of the subject, as well as the echo between the Abnormal Taste and work of art itself. At last, this thesis is able to conclude the interior characteristics and the exteriors forms of the Abnormal Taste.Psychology reveals man's tendency to develop and to realize the self as well as the values of art in the self-realization of man. The openness of works of art echoes the transcendence of the subjective man and it just hide in the history of man, and in the development of art. Some experiment of psychology proved that the creative artists tend to have a psychology different from the"normal persons". Either these creative artists tend to have very strong desires to innovate, or they may be controlled by the instinct or morbidity, or between the two. These characteristics of these creative artists usually are able to help them break away from the conventions and common ideas obeyed by the commons, so that they can dart towards the innovative areas form very special styles of art. While in the tache of visual acceptance, there is such a phenomenon: after an objective is tasted for many times, it will be perceived and become a familiar thing. The result is it tends to be ignored because of its familiarity. So the psychology of perceiving is characteristic of"loving the new and loathing the old". It demands"abnormality".The Abnormal Taste represents itself differently in different dimensions of art. In the Shelf-art, it shows itself as mysterious alienation, the other dimensional space, abnormality and subconsciousness, the fables against common senses, and the aberrance of space dimensions. In the Fresco-art, it shows itself as eery images, the sculpture of aberrance, the fabulous space, the mysterious symbols, the extraordinary space-time and so on. While in the circle of unconventional fine arts in the modern times, it shows itself as the dissimilation of material and space-time, the new deconstruction of the meaning of body and the identity of sex, and the tragical rebirth of fables, among the others. The modern arts appear along with the reformation which revolt against the rigescent works of art. The Abnormal Taste, as a bolshy judgment of art, plays an active role to some extent and produces some works of art of particular charm. However, at the same time, it has the suspicion of being exaggerated. The transcendence of works of art is transformed into fabulous entertainment and games. In the stirring tide of the modern society, we should avoid fixing our eyes upon the negative dimensions of the Abnormal Taste, but we should start from the real life, and go back to the works of art themselves. Then we can construct the possibilities of art.
