In the professional community, fine arts education has expanded to the entire vision culture, which includes both classical and popular arts. The paper studies the meaning and value of introducing popular culture to public arts course in college with an example of a cartoon film Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi. Based on the case observed, collected and analysized in the real teaching as well as Shusterman's framework of popular culture, it discusses the argument that popular art is false, superficial and not creative, and explains that introduction of popular art into class is reasonable.By the behavior study of the case, the author prefers Shusterman's progressive theory. Popular art works can not be marked with the same label. Meanwhile, if the education system lacks popular art prevalent among adolescence, there must be criticism that art education is incompetent...
