Based on the practical problems in the novel teaching in the new curriculum, thepurpose of the study is to bring about the effective teaching and learning methods,construct learner-centered novel teaching model, enable the learners to appreciate andunderstand the meaning of the works while learning novels, with the colorfulexperiences, the students will be humane, and form complete personalityaccomplishment. Though this way, teachers and learners will realize the teachingobjectives of the new curricuhtm.In the second chapter, the author mainly analyzed the relationship between thenew curriculum concept and novel teaching. Novel teaching is the important carrier ofcultural education, therefore, the author put forward the objectives and the directionsof the novel teaching, further clearly put forward that learner-centered teaching modelis the requirement of the New curriculum concept and the cultural education. The newcurriculum advocates quality education, highlights the function of the learners, andvalue highly the personal experience and feelings of the students while they arelearning Korean language. As the important carrier of cultural education, novelteaching should focus on the correct understanding and appreciation of the works, andmake pursuing experiences and forming personality as the final objective. In order toachieve this goal, the traditional text-centered teaching model should be got rid of,and the new learner-centered teaching model should be adopted.In the third chapter, the author examined carefully all the novels included in thenew textbooks used in the Korean middle school, all the texts are adopted under theinfluence of the new curriculum concept. To fully develop the subject role of thelearners is the common requirement of the new curriculum and novel teaching. Theauthor investigated and analyzed the present situation of novel teaching, and broughtforward that the research on novel teaching and learning is urgent and very necessary.And the new learner-centered teaching model is highly praised by the teachers andlearners. Based on this, the author examined the old traditional teaching model, and redesigned the new learner-centered novel teaching model.In the fourth chapter, taking the novel the Fatso and the Slim-jim as example, theauthor used the new teaching model in the real teaching practice to show the flexibleapplication of the model.To sum up, the conclusion of the research is as follows:1.In order to effectively achieve the teaching objectives of novel instruction,learner-centered teaching model should be used. This is the common needs andwishes of the teachers and students and it is also the trend.2.The teaching link and learning methods designed in the new learner-centerednovel teaching model have aroused the learners' interest and changed their learningattitude, and good results have been obtained. Therefore, this method is effective andapplicable.3.Different teaching and learning methods should be adopted according todifferent contents of the novels, and this is the real learner-centered learning style.Thus, the differences of the learners should be considered and the differentexperiences and feelings should be paid attention to.4.Effective and high quality learning effect can not be achieved with single andsimple teaching and learning method. Instead, colorful and diverse methods should beused. And continuous development and research should be involved.5.Teachers should conform to the reform of the times, fully understand the newcurriculum, change traditional teacher's role and reform the teaching and learningmethods. Besides, exam system should also be changed.In conclusion, in order to achieve the objectives of novel teaching in the newcurriculum, learner-centered quality education and novel teaching and learningmethods should be advocated, different learning methods should be used for differentcontents. Using this new learner-centered novel teaching model, teachers should payspecial attention to it and should also try to create learning environment for students.
