This thesis takes the films directed by Korean director Ki-duk Kimand Chan-wook Park as example and gives explanation with analysis to themain aesthetic characters of Korean art films from 1996 to 2006. Thearticle is divided into three parts: Introduction, Main Body andConclusion.The Introduction gives a brief profile of the development ofcontemporary Korean films, which sets up the article's background. Itincludes reasons for selecting the decade from 1996 to 2006 as studyobjective, reasons for the quick growing up of Korean films in global filmarena and the main achievements gained by Korean art films and theirdirectors etc..In the Main Body, I discoursed upon the content implication andartistic feature of Korean art films according to the inherent charactersof filmic art. The first chapter of "Profound and Solid ContentImplication" contains three sections of "religious oppugnation andmortality realization", "eroticismdisplayandviolence description"and "aesthetic turnaround and value rehabilitation" Each section titlegives out summary to its following discussing points. In detail discussion,I analyzed both aspects related to the Korean art films respectively usingmovie examples firstly and abstracted the common ground embodied by thetwo aspects in the end of the section.In the second chapter of "Charming and Vivid Artistic Feature", Igave discussion from artistic angle on the particularity showed in Koreanart films from four aspects of "film color", "film sounds", "filmimage" and "film super-realism".In the Conclusion, the leitmotiv was elevated through abovedissertation. Based on the analysis of the significant impacts to the world brought by culture globalization, the article concludes that: thesuccess of Korean art films is in accordance with the fusion and blendingof Eastern and Western culture in a globalization context.The theme of Korean art films discussed in the article is quite anovelty and expressed in a clear frame. Besides aesthetics and art domain,I also extended the study range into the fields of philosophy, ethnics,psychology and culture, which further strengthened the literary andknowledge connotation of the thesis. The dissertation of the contentimplication and artistic feature of Korean art films educes the conclusionthat the success of Korean art films is in accordance with the fusion andblending of Eastern and Western culture in a globalization context, whichhighlighted the theme widely and deeply and even elevated both thetheoretic value and practical sense of the thesis of the article.
