Green tea is the main tea, also the traditional consumed tea in our country. It has a widespread production area, so does its sales area. The common people express their feelings and hopes with the tea in producing, living, basic necessities of life, funerals and weddings, etiquette and custom, personal contact. This has become a fixed program and passed on generation by generation as a custom. The ancients said, "Life becomes longer and better with life in the tea kettle". "A cup of tea in the hand can get rid of sickness and unhappiness". It is verified by scientific experiments that the health protection of green tea is comprehensive. In modern society, as people's traditional orientation becomes weaker and individual orientation becomes stronger, people drink tea for health care, mind care and leisure. After green tea is made, it is fantastic to enjoy green leaves in green water with faint scent. Therefore, as a green drink, is has been favored by more and more consumers and it has become the hot and bright spot in sales market. As the market demand accelerates the production and development of green tea, it also drives the production and development of its selling and packing.Today, with the wealthy substance, more and more products with the same kind appear in the market. The 'information value' is more important than 'substance value' of commodities for consumers to decide to purchase which product. In sales process, the packing takes on the role of silent promotion salesman. Tea is the wisdom crystallization of spiritual life of our countryman, and the effective prescription for restoring and balance of human nature. In today's post industrialization era, tea drinking is a spiritual life behavior to go back to ourselves and return to our original nature. Hence, after comparative studies the author thinks the tea packing design can be summed up as followings:The fusing of traditional and modern tea culture: mass people's common culture and literati's philosophic culture;Commercializing culture in market economy;Formally, the idea composed of modern vision elements which are brought forth by traditional poem, book, painting and signet;Materially, quality guaranteed and ecology friendly as its objectiveThe author collected the first-hand data on green tea process, selling, and packing by inspecting high mountain tea garden on the spot and investigating the large scale super market, franchised stores and wholesale tea market in the southwest of China. In the mean time, based on the readings of tea culture, combined with the characteristics of packing design, leaded by the market demand, this thesis elaborates in terms of material, shape, characters, illustrations and colors of green tea package. The author thinks that the bamboo is the ecological material for green tea package after studies on the origin, the effects on the storage of green tea, and the cultural meaning and design and process of raw material.
