| Witlod Lutoslawski, a Polish Contemporary composer from socialism group of Eastern Europe, is now acknowledged as one of the major European composers of the 20th century…generally the most significant Polish composer since Szymanowski, and possibly the greatest Polish composer since Chopin by《The Grove Concise Dictionary of Music and Musicians》, version 2000. His limited aleatorism deeply influenced the Contemporary music. In this paper, I describe a whole Lutoslawski, including his background, life and music styles. There are three main chapters in my paper: in chapter 1, I describe the outline of the Westen music of the 20th century and the history of Poland; in chapter 2, I describe Lutoslawski's life and creations; in chapter 3, I describe his main composition -Limited Aleatorism. There are 2 parts in this chapter. First, I interpret Aleatory music, because Limited Aleatorism is out of Aleatory and develop it in the futher. I divide Aleatorism into 2 types, one is creational and the other is performal. When you compose an Aleatory music, you got three ways: chance operations, mobile form and indeterminate notation. And when you perform one, you got all rights. Second, I interpret Limited Aleatorism from his special pitch organization, rhythem, harmony and form. By the way of musicology analysis, this paper re-appears the great Polish composer. |
