The ethnic costume,as a cultural symbol,is one of carriers of the national culture.To analyze this symbol has important meaning to understanding of ethnic culture mentality and spirit characteristics,also has significance to the understanding of ethnic way of life and change of history and culture.During the long term life practice,The Chuxiong Yi nationality has created various,original,flowery,elegant and colorful design patterns by the way of twine,embroider and post etc.Those design,directly or indirectly reappear the ethnic features,life custom and religion belief by the vivid decoration pattern,using its special of general,essential,exaggerated technique;or indirectly to express the feeling of Chuxiong Yi nationality and wishes to life.During the long development and changes,it shows us the influence of Chuxiong Yi ethnic costume culture.This culture,as a spiritual product,remains its special ethic characteristics,reflects the sentiment tastes and tastes characteristics.This thesis takes Maying flower design,Star anise design and horn design as three representatives,to analyze them in detail,and combine with the mental needs of people,to conclude specific way of the modern application of Chuxiong Yi people costume design.This thesis discusses the research of pattems.A lot of field surveys had been done to the habitats of Yi people in Chuxiong,Dayao,Yuanmou,Shiyang,Yongren,Nanhua,Yaoan, Tanhua and Gaofeng village of Lufeng County of Yunnan Province.To classify the pictures and materials under the base of relative ethnic costume designs materials.Start from the traditional folk-customs and religion belief,to seek the cultural essence of Chuxiong Yi people costume pattern.To generalize Chuxiong Yi people costume.To introduce the classification of Chuxiong Yi people costume.Because there are many branches of Chuxiong Yi nationality,this thesis chooses Maying flower design,Star anise design and horn design as three costume representatives to analyze.It provides integrated research to three angles,which are color application,way of creation and structure.To seek the regulation of creation and essence of costume pattern,meanwhile to analyze and research on modern application of Chuxiong Yi nationality costume design.It concludes three ways of Chuxiong Yi people costume design application,and does some designs in the base of this.Along with the development of society,the standard of living is improving.The taste of beauty is enhancing.The Yi costume,which is beautiful,elegant,practical,has strong eastern art style.The Yi costume succeeds to its own vivid national characteristics and strong sense of local color,on the base of it,the market brings new demand.Besides following the Yi ethnic costume design on modern costume,we also need to develop new carrier.To coruscate the new art fascination of Yi costume design.At the same time to create bigger market,to seek other ways to inherit the ethnic culture and create more opportunities.
