Adverb Of Time "" "" "is" A Comparative Study

"Zheng""Zai"and"Zheng zai"are important adverb in modern Chinese. Many valuable conclusions about them have been gotten by some studies. However, nobody can completely tell the difference among them. Based on the previous conclusions, we try to deeply analyze the difference among their grammatical meanings and grammatical characters.This thesis includes five Parts.The first Part is instruction. This Part introduces the purpose of the study , study method, field of this paper and so on. We also simply introduce the previous conclusions on these three adverbs.The second Part is the comparison of grammatical meanings of these three adverbs. First we analyze their own grammatical meanings, and then compare the three meanings together. From the view of time,"Zheng"expresses a"time point","Zhengzai"expresses a"limited time period",and"Zai"expresses a"limited time period"or an"unlimited time period". From the view of the"state"and"time relationship","Zheng"stresses"time relationship","Zai"stresses"state","Zhengzai"has the both meanings. In the third Part ,we compare the grammatical characteristics between"Zheng"and"Zai".Because"Zai"expresses a"time period"and stresses the"state"of action, but"Zheng"is just in opposite in grammatical meanings. So their grammatical characteristics are different in predication of the sentence, in syntax distraction, and in sentence self-sufficiency and so on.In the forth Part , we compare the similarities and differences among"Zheng""Zai"and"Zhengzai"."Zhengzai"empresses a"time period", stresses the"state"of action, and"time relationship"between action and time .The first two points is the same as"Zai", and the last one same as"Zheng". Therefore, in grammatical characteristics,"Zhengzai"is similar with"Zheng""Zai", but not the same.The last Part is"conclusion", we conclude the four parts above and the problems in this paper.
