Discourse marker is a common phenomenon in our conversation. The research of discourse markers is an emerging topic of Discourse analysis and Pragmatic research. By means of a bottom-up approach, this article focuses on the function of shiqing conjunctions as discourse markers. According to Liao Qiuzhong, shiqing conjunction is one kind of conjunction which implies the truth. Based on the frequency of their usages,"qishi","shijishang","shishishang","shuoshihua","laoshishuo","shuozhende"are to be analyzed by Andersen's triangular model(2000) inspired by relevance-theoretic approach. The first chapter is devoted to the research findings both at home and abroad , then introduces the purpose of this article and the approach we use. The discourse tokens are selected from talk show, scripts, and dialogues in the novels. Their different pragmatic functions as shiqing conjunctions in communications, and the context often used are described and analyzed. The second chapter is an introduction to the theories referred, including theory of discourse markers by H?lker and Ran Yongping ,Relevance-theoretic approach by Sperber and wi1Son. As to the functions of discourse markers, this research is based on Andersen's triangular model. The third and fourth chapters are the most important parts of this paper. Applying Ran yongping's theory, the third chapter makes clearly how shiqing conjunctions function as discourse markers and how they are used in forms. The fourth chapter uses Anderson's triangular model to analyze both spoken and written speeches and finally comes to a conclusion on the difference between their functions and the frequency of the functions. The last chapter is the conclusion part. Based on the original research, functions of six expressions are analyzed and compared, trying to make a contribution to the case study of discourse markers.
