"i" Sentences Study

Ancient Chinese is the source of later generation Chinese, it implicated the ways and the directions of the development of later generation Chinese. Laozi has a far-reaching effect in World Philosophy masterpieces, it used the exquisite language to express our Paleozoic ancestors'awareness of the universe and life. It is an important classic to research the language of the Spring and Autumn time period.Wise men in former period and in modern times have many statements on Laozi in various aspects , such as literature, argumentation, gloss and phonological and so on, but did not give enough attention to the research on it's sentence, the systematic research on the sentence pattern has never been seen in the Chinese research history nor in Laozi research history . In view of this, the paper choose this topic to try to fill the research gaps, and thus to expand the research field, so as to better understand the face of the Chinese in Spring and Autumn Period. This essay studied the sentence pattern in Laozi comprehensively, compare similarities and differences, strict conditions, investegate the structure of each sentence pattern, and reveal the evolutionary law of Chinese sentence, provide important pre-Qin corpus and theoretical references in the study of the Chinese grammar history .This thesis consists of five chapters.Chapter I"Preface". An overview of the basic situation of the documents and the predecessors'syntactic research results, illustrate the reasons for selection of this topic, the scope and methods for the study.Chapter II"simple sentence". Study the structure of subject-predicate sentence and non-subject-predicate sentence. Verbal phrase subject-predicate sentence is the main part in Laozi subject-predicate sentence. The rate of utilization is high, quantity is large, form is diverse, language structure is complicated, etc. This chapter from eight aspects to research the characteristics and principles of it.Chapter III"Complex Sentence (one)". Study the structure of the parallel complex sentence, Comparative complex sentence and selective complex sentence. The amount of Parallel complex sentence is the most one in Laozi's complex sentence, which take about 33% percent, and the structure is very intricate, this is the main target to research. This chapter mainly from four big respects and fourteen small respects to study the parallel complex sentence which has only one arrangement, from three respects to research parallel complex sentence which has more than one arrangement.Chapter IV"complex sentence (two)". Study the structure of consistent complex sentence, narrate-judge complex sentence and Progressive complex sentence. Laozi is full of philosophical thinking, it use progressive complex sentence and narrate-judge complex sentence to express the relation of reasons and the judgment definitely. This chapter mainly from seven respects to research progressive complex sentence, from six respects to discuss narrate-judge complex sentence.Chapter V"complex sentence (three)". Study the structure of causational clause, hypothesis complex sentences and disjunctive complex sentence. This chapter mainly researches the usage of relating words in three kinds of complex sentence and the differences among them. Summarize the characteristics and the principles of usage of each kind of complex sentence.
