| Curt Coffman once said that as "emotional economy" has made it's debut, anyone who overlooks it's effect is bound to make a loss in property. It is appreciable that today the functions and price of merchandise are no longer the essential facts that impact consumers' purchasing capability. Instead, it is the emotional memories brought to customers that counts. For books, a special sort of goods, to capture the readers' emotion is of great significance. Book design should aim at creating a harmonious atmosphere where exchanges of thoughts between readers and authors can be smoothly accomplished.Having studied the theory of emotional design, I attempt to achieve several aims below in my essay. For instance, to improve the book designers' sensibility to the theoretical frame of emotional design. There are three levels of emotional experiences in the interaction between readers and the books in their hands involving our great attention. The essay also claims that designers should attach importance to people's needs. A conclusion of the methods of emotional book design is also made so as to be applied to the practice of designing. A successful design is expected to be intended to stimulate a certain emotion or feeling inside one's heart. That is to say, In addition to the basic function--to be read, the books also tend to bring more emotional experiences which promote people's interests and enthusiasm as well as diverse people's reading habits and ways.My study mainly includes three aspects: The first aspect is to analyse all kinds of book design on the market combining the theory of the three levels in emotional book design. And the second is to summarize the methods and skills of designing job. The last but not least is how to adapt the method to the practice. I believe that my study is (somewhat) instructive in the concerning areas. |
