In order to guide people to apprehend and to apply the traditional calligraphy correctly to the process of copying and producing calligraphy, this issue made a clear analysis and research on the "traditional calligraphy". Taking the performance process from physical skills (that is the brush-pen holding and the brush-pen running) to Tao (yin and yang, which refers to calligraphy tradition or spirit of calligraphy) as a start, the author expatiate a Chinese calligraphy traditional arguments that ingenious skills can be Tao. Through analysis and explanations of different terms, we known clearly when and what kind of calligraphy tradition we should acquire. The author holds that it should be display in mature traditional calligraphy (classical works such as in the Wei and Jin Dynasties), typical calligraphers such as Zhong Yao and Wang Xizhi (whose works are "recommendation for Ji zhi"(Jian Ji Zhi Biao), "Orchid Pavilion Preface", etc. ) , thus defines the end of copy and produce, that is to find the law of classical skills of calligraphy pen using , then develop a personal pen using skills from the common pen using skills, which leads to the purpose and significance of this subject.
