Tatyana Tolstaya, as one of the active writers in Russia today, mainly focused on writing novels and has published twenty-four short stories and one novel since she first established herself in literary field in 1984. Although not prolific, T.Tolstaya has entered the spotlight of criticism. According to the tradition of classification of writers, T.Tolstaya's works have always been put with the range of feminism and post modernism in Russia literature, while the interpretation and criticism of the uniqueness of her poetics is rarely to see. This thesis, therefore, studies T.Tolstaya's works under the guidance of narrative, post-modernism and rhetoric. It aims at a new perspective to interpret T.Tolstaya's poetics through a detailed analysis of the works and based on the previous studies.This thesis consists of five parts, an introduction, three chapters and a conclusion. In introduction, the literature review home and abroad is introduced, meanwhile, the reason of choosing this topic, its theoretical base, content and new angels are discussed. Chapter One studies the eternal themes in T.Tolstaya's works, mainly, life, love and death. Chapter Two discusses post modern style with the frame of game theory, deconstruction and contradictions in post modern narrative. Chapter Three analyzes the succession of Russian classical literature in T.Tolstaya's works, thus establishes the traditionalism in T.Tolstaya's works. In the last part, a conclusion is drawn as the features of T.Tolstaya's poetics are, the writing of the eternal themes, a post modern style and an inheritance of Russian tradition.
