The Rise Of Anglo-american School Of Design Research And Development

As an academic field, design research began in the 1960s and has become the professional research field with a relatively clear concept and study category after the construction in the West during recent decades. In the past three to four decades, western design theory developed greatly and made a series of impressive results, including the formation of Anglo-American design research school. The school has lager influence and its core is design research society founded in the United Kingdom in 1966. The thesis made researches on the school, including its formation, development and contemporary trends and strived to sort out its development and theoretical achievements. It analysized the main theoretical research positions, representatives and their theoretical systems of the school, as well as the introduction and development of design research in Anglo-American professional design education, with a view to deepen the understanding of forefront of theoretical development in contemporary world and provide a useful reference to contemporary Chinese theorists.
