Lu Zhi History Thought

Lu Zhi was an outstanding ideologist in the mid-Tang period. During the time he assistd Tang Dezong to govern country ,he wrote massive memorials to the throne, useing the history to criticize the present or give advice, and all these things he worte manifested his rich historical thinking.Although memorials to the throne of Lu Zhi has always been concerned by academic circles, but his historical thinking has been rarely researched. Therefore, this proposition will proceed from probing into the life of Lu Zhi and try to analyze and discuss the formation background,core contents and characteristics of his historical thinking. Please oblige me with your valuable comments.The article starts with the preface, in this part, the writer concludes the main points, the research scope and significance of this thesis and review of the academic history. Then,the writer expounds and proves the main points in eight chapters:Chapter one, the life of Lu Zhi.Lu Zhi should be one of the successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations in 771.His experience is in regard to his scholarship which was accumulated in his early years. Lu Zhi selected 23 persons as famous"Long Hu Bang"and he made friends with the ones with scholarship.All these factors influenced the formation of his historical thinking.Chapter two,editions of"Lu Xuan Gong Han Yuan Ji". This corpus is the basis of our investigation for his historical thinking. The writer discovers the caved editions of Song is the earliest one,and the one in"Si Bu Cong Kan"is the best one.Chapter three, research the formation of the historical thinking. The writer thinks that it can not get away from the social and academic background of Tang Dynasty. The severe political and economic crisis,even the development of Confucianism all influenced Lu Zhi's historical thinking.Chapter four, Lu Zhi showed what a emperor should be.He thought there were three aspects,including how a emperor treated himself, his ministers and his people. Lu Zhi knew history very well and thought it profoundly, so he aslo commentted the history objectively and accurately.Chapter five, Lu Zhi expounded his financial views about history below:he thought the traditional financial principle was not the completely best one, he tried to analyze the benefits of the historical tax system ,then he aslo discussed the historical storage system in detail.Chapter six,on the basis of the traditional Confucianism,and by the analysis of history,Lu Zhi elucidated how emperors got morale by stopping wars, distributing money and so on. He pointed some insightful theories,too.Chapter seven, Lu Zhi viewed the relationship between nature and man,including natural disasters and changes in the history of the rise and fall.He thought destiny was existed,but the effect of man was more decisive.The changes of history depended on what people did.Chapter eight, sum up the whole article. The historical thinking of Lu Zhi processes three characteristics,which included practical historiography,example historiography,commenting the history objectively and accurately. Through the memorial to the throne of Lu Zhi , his historical thinking spreaded widely ,it produced profound influence on the development of the history of historiography in the afterlife.
