After making a serious collection, textual research on the usage of xing-sheng zi (morpheme-phonetic character) shattering in the books on Xun Gu Xue (critical interpretation of ancient texts) and other great classics, the thesis aims to make a tantetive research on the phonetic part of xing-sheng zi on the perspective of its showing the source of the word.This thesis consists of 7 parts.In the introduction part, firstly, it is a general review of the function of phonetic sign and its semanteme. It makes a brief review of the research history and research situation of the word family and phonetic part.Secondly, it points out the objects, the purpose and the method of the research and its reletive explanition.In chapter One, the word family of morpheme-phonetic character with semanteme as its basic meaning in compromises 18groups in "shuowenjiezi-Nvbu"In chapter Two, the word family of morpheme-phonetic character with the connotation of its semanteme as its basic meaning, in "shuowenjiezi-Nvbu ", compromises 30 groupsIn chapter Three, the word family of morpheme-phonetic character with the figurative sense of its semanteme as its basic meaning, in "shuowenjiezi-Nvbu", compromises 4groups. In chapter Four, the word family of morpheme-phonetic character with the etymological meaning of its semanteme as its basic meaning compromises 29 groups in "shuowenjiezi-Nvbu".In chapter Five, it maks a general picture of the phonetic sign indidate ource of meaning in "shuowenjiezi-Nvbu" and summarizes its characteristics.In the conclusion part, it briefly relates the complexity and difficulty of the research on the phonetic sign indidate ource of meaning and points out the value and the deficiencyof this study.
