Social Support, Loneliness And Internet Addiction Relationship

At the background of previous studies focused on the phenomenon of Internet Addiction, discussing the mechanism of Internet addiction tendency to help college students solve mental confusion to reduce their Internet addiction tendency and improve their mental health level, had a great significance.This study investigated 1021 college students come from four universities, used questionnaire to explored the relationship of social support(included real social support and online social support), loneliness and Internet addiction tendency. Processing data by the SPSS 16.0 and LISREL8.70 statistical software package, the study analyzed the traits of Internet addiction tendency, real social support, online social support and loneliness, as well as the relationship of these variables, and it also validated the prediction function of real social support and online social support on Internet addiction tendency. It established models to validate the interaction effects of real social support and online social support on Internet addiction tendency, and mediating effects of social loneliness,intimate loneliness, self-loneliness and development loneliness between real social support and Internet addiction tendency. The conclusions were as follows:(1) Internet addiction tendency of college students had a significant difference in gender, between students who learned arts and students who learned science, and among different times of Internet use; online social support of college students had a significant difference in gender, among different degrees and times of Internet use. At the same time, online social support of college students had a significant correlation with age. College students had a significant difference in gender, between students who learned arts and students who learned science and among difference degrees on loneliness.(2) College students' real social support had a significant correlation with Internet addiction tendency; Except information support, other dimensions and total score of online social support of college students had a significant correlation with Internet addiction tendency; College students'loneliness had a significant correlation with Internet addiction tendency.(3) College students' real social support had a significant negative predict effects on Internet Addiction Tendency.(4) College students' online social support had significant positive predict effects on Internet Addiction Tendency.(5) College students' main effects of real social support and online social support on Internet addiction tendency were significant, the interaction effects was not significant. But the main effects of subjective social support and affection support on Internet addiction tendency were significant, and the negative interaction effect was significant.(6) College students' social loneliness, intimate loneliness, self-loneliness and development loneliness play mediating effects between real social support and Internet addiction tendency respectively.
