College students from families into the campus, experience in the development of theindividual second DuanRuQi, inevitable there are some strong psychological experiencesthat affect physical and mental health, of which about loneliness of college students hasbeen paid much attention of researchers. Social support is helpful for people to reducestress or negative emotion and keep physical and mental health. Besides, with thepopulation of network and the growth frequency for college students to surf on the internet,internet has become an important way to obtain social support.Using questionnaires we select769college students as subjects, and probed intothe relationship between personality, real social support, online social support, self-esteemand physical and mental health which is represented by loneliness. These all base on thedecryptions and analysis of college students’loneliness.In the study, we have got following findings:1On the whole, there is a considerable number of students had the feeling ofloneliness; Loneliness was significantly different in gender, grade, and personality.The level of real social support and online social support was higher.2Personality moderates the relationship between real social support and onlinesupport. For introverts, real social support had positive correlation with online socialsupport. But the relationship for extroverts was not significant.3The relationship of real social support, online social support and loneliness(1) For extroverts, the whole of social support online social support and all of othertypes of social support except instrumental support were significant correlated withloneliness. Real social support interacts with online social support and influence lonelinessof college students. For students with lower real social support, online social support had anegative prediction for their loneliness. For students with higher real social support, onlinesocial support had a positive prediction for their loneliness.(2) For introverts, the whole of real social support and peer support were significantcorrelated with loneliness, online social support did not have significant predict effects onloneliness. Online social support did not has a significant prediction for their loneliness, but for students with lower real social support, the higher online social support theyobtained, the lower loneliness they would experience.4The mediating role of self-esteem on the effect of college students’ real socialsupport and online social support on their loneliness(1) Self-esteem partial mediated the effect processes of extrovert college students’real social support on loneliness, and also mediated the effect processes of online socialsupport on loneliness.(2) For introverts, self-esteem also partial mediated the effect processes ofextrovert college students’real social support on loneliness...
