Kmt Party Reforms In The New Century Research

In the 21th Century, all the political parties around the world are facing issues of reform and self-reinforcement, so is Kuomintang (KMT or literally Chinese National People's Party). The party had experienced three dramatic reforms since its foundation:The resurrection from 1919 to 1924 lead by SunYat-Sen; the reform from 1950 to 1952 after setting office in Taipei and the "Taiwanizing" democratization in1986. From retreated to Taiwan in 1949, KMT had been the ruling party for 55 years. However, the hundred-year's old party loss its rein at the beginning of this century, which becomes the milestone of Taiwan political development. Meanwhile, raise the curtain of KMT's forth reform—overall innovative reform since the year of 2000.In 2008,8 years after the forth reform, yet again KMT came into power, indicating the positive effect of reform. Insisting on "One-China Policy" and holding remarkable political resources, KMT demonstrates its irreplaceable role in bridging Mainland and Taiwan, furthermore, the reunification of China. Therefore, this dissertation is trying to catch the front edge of the research field via taking the flesh experience of KMT in the new century; and to analytical state the the KMT reform history from a political perspective, by which to explicitly recognize KMT's significant role in Taiwan political modernization. There are four sections in the research:The first section is Outline, for the subject selection, literature review as well as the highlighting points. The second section explains the background and motivation of KMT's reforms, including factors of political context changes, relationship factors between Taiwan and Mainland and the international context changes.The third section illustrates the major content of KMT's recent reform, mainly from six aspects:Changes of the party's position and principles, Reorganization, Inner democracy promotion, Party's image rebrand, Fostering young candidates and the integration of "The bluish camp".The last section analyzes the result and effects of KMT's recent reforms. Based on material occupation, mainly including the reform's impact on Taiwan's political situation, the impact on KMT it's self, the positive impact on cross-straits relations, the analysis of historical progress and leftover issues, meanwhile, propose beneficial suggestions.The research on KMT's party affairs is helpful to recognize the situation of Taiwan, further more to contribute to the development of the cross-strait relations.
