On The Legal Protection Of Minority Rights

Minorities are groups within ethnicity,idiographic religions, cultural features and special languages, which are different from other social groups. The main subject of this paper is the legal protection of minority rights. First of all,the paper summarizes the components of the minority by studying the evolution of the definition of a minority. Otherwise, it discriminates the relevant concepts of national minority, and sums up the specific content of the rights of minorities. Then the paper tries to establish the basic principles of the protection of minority rights by analyzing the legitimacy of the protection of minority rights. That is only under the premise of adhering to the principle of equality, the principle of prohibiting discrimination,the principle of proportionality and the principle of state responsibility,can we achieve better protection of minority rights. Finally,the paper attempts to find deficiencies in the legal protection of minority rights by distinguishing current situation of protection at home and abroad, and propose some recommendations for legislation, law enforcement, judicial and social advocacy.
