A Study On The Social Support Of Rural Disabled

In the end of the 20 th century, China went into the ranks of Aging Countries. In the process of analysis of the elderly, a special group goes into the view of public people—the rural elderly people with disability. Concerning about the living condition and social security increasingly becomes the focus of livelihood. The study on the social support system can not only enrich the connotation of social support application, but also can make the current situation of the rural elderly people with disabilities clear, perfect the system of social support and promote the improvement of their world.The study mainly uses the method of interview survey and literature research. On the basis of consulting previous research experience, I go to the countryside and interview the elderly people with disability to obtain practical information. And I adhere to the guidance of the social support theory. In the framework of formal and informal social support, this study concerns about the government, federation of the disabled, family, community, NGO, neighbors and friends.The thesis is mainly divided into six chapters. The first chapter is introduction. The second chapter mainly introduces the research methods. The third chapter simply introduces the current life situation of the rural elderly people with disability. The forth chapter analyzes the status of their social support. The fifth chapter focuses on the existing problems in the system of social support. And then, the sixth chapter puts forward measures and suggestions.Through the research, the author finds that the life status of rural disabled elderly people is not optimistic. Their social support system is facing some problems. The problems in the formal social support: preferential policies lack safeguard support for the rural disabled elderly people; the actual support utility weakens; federation of the disabled lacks support. The problems in the inform support: the family differences influence the utility; NGO is lacked; community capacity and neighbor support is limited. Based on the problems, the author puts forward the suggestions: perfecting the government function, promoting development of federation of the disabled, perfecting family roles, changing community, promoting participation of NGO and moral instruction.The innovation of the study is the selection of the study area. It is in the rural area and pays attention to the particularity of the rural disabled elderly people. It makes the study more targeted. And the guidance of social support makes the study more systemic. In addition, some questions are answered by other people. It affects the representative of the sample.
