Pig Production In Nanjing And Its Related Factors

Applying the theoiy of comparative advantage and that of economy of scale, this thesis analyses the current situation of the pig production situation in Nanjing and its related factors such as different producer types, pork consumption, processing and circulation. Also it analyses their advantages and disadvantages, and prospects. Based on the analysis, the author comes up with some suggestions and countermeasures regarding the pig production in Nanjing. The thesis begins with a summary of pig production situation in Nanjing, studying its comparative advantage home and abroad, and explaining the price fluctuation on the pig market from the perspective of supply features of pigs. The second part comparatively analyses the two producer types梥ingle households and specialized commercial pig fanms: their behavior features, cost, profit, influence from price fluctuation and its development tendency. The third part is a survey of the related stages of pig production梡rocessing, circulation and consumption. The forth part comes to the conclusion that at the present level of economic development, Nanjing should encourage and protect single households to raise pigs and meanwhile cautiously promote the growth of specialized commercial pig farms. Also in this part, the author produces the countermeasures against the problems in pig production in Nanjing.
