The Connotation Of A Knowledge-based Economy And Measure Study

In 21 century, the term "knowledge-based economy" hasbecome more and more outstanding, especially by the rapid development ofinformation technology. Nowadays, knowledge-based economy has beenwidely accepted and distributed, the role of factor of knowledge has beenregarded as more and more important in economic development. It ha beenpredicted that the core industry of the new century will be the knowledge-based indusny and the society will also be a knowledge-based one.According to the definition from the report of knowledge-based economy byOECD, the new economy refers to the one "based on the production,distribution and usage of knowledge and information". Different fromagricultural economy and industry economy, knowledge-based economy hasbecome the source and the main drive of the human culture.As a new form of economy, there are still many challenges, such as:the precise definition and characters of knowledge-based economy; theroles of its running; the position of knowledge in economic structure, themeasurement of the knowledge products enterprise and etc.. To suchproblems, there are many efforts to solve them. The paper tried to analyzethe concept of knowledge-based economy, the regularity of its running andthe measurement of knowledge-based economy, in order to reveal the law ofknowledge factor in economic development and establish a system ofmeasurement norms.The paper consists of three parts:The first part concerns with general theory research of knowledge-based economy, its aim is to clear the theory ground of the now economy;The second part deals with the law of knowledge-based products'movement; the third part analyze the measurement of knowledge-basedeconomy. The author based on the OECD's measure system and theconcretize some norms.Besides many statistics data and charts, the paper adopted manyanalyze method to investigate the concept and measurement of knowledge-based economy. The paper will benefit the development of knowledge-based economy in our country.
