Chinese Construction Industry And Pillar Industry Status

This article is one part of the project, The Research on Management Mode and Policy ofConstruction Industry in China in the 21^st Century, a project of the National Natural ScienceFoundation of China.Research object of this article is the whole construction industry of China. Focusing onthe problem of the industrial position of the construction industry through theoretical andexperiential analyzing, this anicle firstly does research on the features that the pillar industryof the gross economy should have and pinpoints a set of standards to judge whether a cehainindustry may take the pillar role of the gross economy when supported by industry policies.According to these rules, this article then gives analysis to the industrial features of China'sconstruction industry and proves the great improvement potential of the output of constructionindustry as well as the possibility and the inevitability of this industry will grow up to take onthe pillar role of economy. Finally, it provides some industrial policy methods to overcome thedifficulties in the development process of China's construction industryThrough comparing and contracting the statistics data of the construction industry ofseveral countries, this article establishes a regression model of the development path of theconstruction industry describing the relation between the ratio of construction output to GDPand the ratio of GDP to gross population. It will be very useful in analyzing the developmenttrend of construction industry and in the iflternational comparing research on such subject.
