With development of economy, globalization of trade and prevalence of e-business, there are higher demands for logistics management both in quality and in quantity. Being an impetus to benign economic operation and improved efficiency, logistics industry has a bright future. As the most important undertaker in physical distribution, China Post, in order to offer inexpensive but high-quality logistics services nowadays, needs to think how to make the full use of its advantages and how to intergrade and optimize the three network resources as practicality, information and finance. This paper mainly explores the development trend of logistics and how China Post establishes its dominant status in logistics market.First, starting with analysis of evolvement of the concept from physical distribution to logistics, of composing elements of logistics, and of logistics system and systemized management of logistics, the paper expounds in detail the basic characteristics of logistics management.Second, the development of logistics industry now and in the future, especially chances and challenges in our country are discussed. Based on analysis of the general trend of logistics development, the characters and some experience of success in western countries are reviewed. Then the problems and restricting elements of logistics industry in our country are highlighted, especially after China's entry of WTO.Third, the paper analyzes what if China Post is involved in third-party logistics market. The development of third-party logistics market, unique advantages of China Post in logistics, problems China Post faces in providing logistics services are expatiated on.Last, and the most important, the paper gives a comprehensive and profound analysis of strategies of how China Post develops logistics services. Starting with basic orientation of China Post in logistics, this part includes optimization of the three network as practicality, information and finance, service and information management of China Post in providing logistics, and e-business services of China Post. The basic guidelines of how China Post develops B to B or B to C services in the same city, or in the same province, or in different areas are explored.
