Commercialization of agricultural research achievements (CARA) is the major approach for economy and society development in the country-side in our country, and is also the trend of the whole country's development in the new era.This paper has approved the necessity and importance for CARA, based on the statues of the technology level and research achievements in the fields of Chinese agriculture as well as the stipulation of WTO. The concepts and characteristics of the agricultural technology and the key steps for CARA process have been discussed.It had been analyzed on the rules and key factors for the CARA process and the four models of "leadership enterprises, research institutes, demonstration districts of the science and technology and extension nets of agricultural techniques" based on the related theories for the CARA process. On reviewed the progress made in the past in this area, the author revealed the constrains and reasons of the CARA process originated form the four participants, Governments, departments of agricultural researches, extension agencies of agricultural technology and farmers. Namely there is not powerful for the Governments' conducting and institutes' researches, weak organization for the extension in agricultural technology and lower farmers' capacity for the application of the research achievements of the agriculture. Meanwhile, the strategy "changing of government function, reformation of research system, reorganization of extension system and improvement of farmers' capability" has been worked out. This paper could be the theoretical and practical references for CARA. Finally this paper discussed the relationship between the systematic and technical innovations that are the important variables for CARA. They are both independent and effected each other and play relative roles in the different development periods for CARA.
