Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are playing an important role in an economy around the globe, and the phenomena have received attentions from both researchers and practitioners. Theoretically, the sustainable growth of SME is largely determined by the growth of its entrepreneur. Therefore, the continual growth of the entrepreneur, in his/her knowledge and capability, is an internal antecedent of SME's competitiveness. This paper, standing on the ground of human capital theory, considers the growth of an entrepreneur is the accumulation of his/her human capital, which is embedded in the competitive environment of the SME. Founded on this hypothesis and from a knowledge-based view, our research identifies the knowledge essence of entrepreneurial human capital, on which a structural model is built. Four core factors are identified and analyzed, which named as descriptive knowledge, procedural knowledge, entrepreneurial capability and entrepreneurial social capital.Founded on the structural model, we put forward the "Frogging Model of Entrepreneurial Human Capital Accumulation" to describe the evolutionary route of entrepreneurial human capital system The model can be best explained as two alternative procedures: the linear accumulation of individual factor and the nexus reconstruction of the four core factors, both of which lead to the human capital accumulation, but at different level. Besides, the motivational mechanism of this Frogleapping Accumulation Model is also discussed. Results from our field research identify two basic and interactive triggered forces: Inside pushing force and outside pulling force. The discussion of the forces are then focused on the analysis of entrepreneurial learning to better explain the evolutionary route of entrepreneurial human capital accumulation. In the later part of the dissertation, we highlight entrepreneurial learning as the fundamental way to fulfill human capital accumulation. And with in-depth case analysis, three learning models are summarized as: Entrepreneurial learning based upon educational system, entrepreneurial learning based upon "key issue-resolve process" and entrepreneurial learning embedded in social network. In the empirical part of this research, we induce some hypotheses from our previous theoretical discussion and try to prove them with empirical data collected by questionnaire. Results confirm most of our hypotheses and also point out some alternations for the modelBased upon the discussions above, policy implications are outlined from three different levels: individual, SME and government, to improve entrepreneurial learning efficiency. Finally, lesearch conclusions are summarized and future research directions are also noted.
