It's widely agreed in academic circles that the concept of practice is the prime and most essential concept in Marxism philosophy, however, the various concrete comprehensions concerning the concept of practice couldn't reach unanimously. Different understandings of the original context give rise to different understandings of the concept of practice, which places certain obstacles for theoretical communication and sparks off a lot of controversies rooted in this. Furthermore, Chinese society is undergoing a profound revolutionary, so it's the theme to develop main body's creativity of our time. In such background, philosophy research, especially Marxism philosophy research, has to inspect its own development, merge into the spirit of our times and deal with the present problems, thus take a real guiding effect. The vague stipulation of the concept of practice as well as the insufficient discussion of its connotation all contribute to the congenital obstacles for building Marxism practical philosophy imbued with contemporary characteristics. Therefore, in such theoretical atmosphere and contemporary background, it's beyond doubt that it has double significances in theory and reality to make clear the developing process of the concept of practice in the original context, the basic connotation of practice, the historical meaning of practice and so on. This article aims at a full and deep comprehension of the concept of practice by combing through the developing clues of the concept of practice, analyzing its connotation and taking up its historical position. For the above-mentioned consideration, this article consists of three parts accordingly: the first part describes from the seeds of the concept of practice in Marx's Doctor's Thesis and The Yearbook of Germany and France to the preliminary development in Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts, and to the final establishment in Theses on Feuerbach and German Ideology by the further deepening in Holy Family on the basis of Marx's works in early years; the second part made tentative analysis of the basic connotation of the concept of practice, including the main body of practice, the basic factors, the basic function, the basic laws, the basic features, the basic forms and so on according to Marx's different thoughts embodied in his various works ; the third part mediate the historical standing of the concept of practice from the angles of its link between the past and the future as well as its role in the revolutionary change in Marxism philosophy in the height of contemporary times.
