| MICE is a tremendous industry in the world. It involved architecture, design, construction, logistics, communication, consultation, advertisement, food, shopping, travel and accommodation industries and etc. Production value of international exhibition industry takes 1% of the total GDP world. If the gain from related industries is accounted, the contribution from MICE mounts to 8% of the global economy. According to ICC A, the production value of International Meeting, another tremendous industry, is 2800 billion dollar per year.From the last decade, China's MICE develops rapidly, with a high annual growth rate at 20%. So domestic government and academic field begins to focus their interest on the study of MICE. But the status is not satisfactory: some fundamental ideas of MICE are blurry, the connection between MICE and tourism is still loosened, the distribution of some exhibition center are not reasonable, and the efficiency of the market operation is low.Based on the analysis of MICE development trends at home and off-home, and related study progress, this thesis carries on the study from two aspects. After the exploration of theoretical research, the meaning, connection, types and traits of MICE are analyzed and defined. On MICE, a significant part of Urban Tourism, supported by comprehensive infrastructure and reinforced by tourism sight, is a tourism production that attracts numbers of participators and general tourists to carry out negotiation, cultural exchange or sight viewing, by which the related industries are promoted to develop. Then, comparative studies of MICE mode at home and off-home, by comparing the modes of the connection between exhibition and tourism, the spatial development and market operation, is carries through. In the end, taking Shanghai as a case study, the author advances the goal and countermeasures of MICE development in Shanghai, by the analysis of development performance, extant problem competitive condition and etc. |
