With the development of Knowledge Economy in the 21century competition of human resource has been a main area for nationalities worldwide. Knowledge Economy has gained much attention and become a popular research field. However, there are few works on Knowledge Economy in China, if any, especially on combination of Knowledge Economy and Leadership. This paper, in the light of Knowledge Economy, studies the combination of Knowledge Economy and Leadership.Knowledge Economy refers to those differs from traditional industries, and develop based on rare resources. It is sustainable because its main industries are high tech and knowledge resources. Comparing with traditional economies, it is totally different in terms of industrial structure, capital status, manpower, education and human resource development. The paper studies the impact that knowledge economy has taken place to leadership. In doing so, it discussed the needs of changing style of leadership. Conclusion reached is that traditional style of self-leadership should change to new styles of super or teamwork. Organizational structures should also change from pyramid to more flat ones.Knowledge Economy needs innovation in leadership. Since there are few works on the two areas in China, some mistakes have been made in the research and studies an example being leadership was separated by art and science. Recommendations are given in this paper: Leaders in the 21century is facing a new environment of knowledge economy, globalization, network and information technology. These have heavily affected leadership in organizations. Therefore, leaders must adapt the new environment with new styles of innovation, teamwork, shared information and cross-cultural aspects.
