The Significance And Countermeasures Of Information Industry Convergence

Since mid 1990s,the convergence of telecommunications, broadcasting and television and publishing industry has emerged,forming a typical case of information industry convergence.For one thing,the three industries move toward digital convergence based on internet platform and make industry boundary vague and even disappear.On the other hand,the convergence promotes upgrading of information industry structure, changes market structure and results in new situation of competition.Moreover,an expansion of convergence is going to be realized within larger industrial scope.Obviously,information industry convergence is becoming a new source and power for the development of information industry and the growth of economy.An important strategy of accelerating the development of information industry and informationalization process is being adopted in China.Based on such a background, the thesis attempts to primarily explore the role of information industry convergence on the development of information industry and informationalization process.In short,revealing the significance of the convergence and thus putting forward some counter policies and measures are the thesis's objectives.This thesis consists of three parts as the following:The first part is about general statement of information industry convergence.At first,the author gives a brief explanation of its basic meaning and defines research scope of this thesis.Then,utilizing a theoretical analysis frame of industrial boundary,the author describes the process of information industry convergence in which two important transformations play a key role. As the result of convergence,the previous industrial boundary of those departments tends to be vague or disappear. In the final section of this part,several reasons which support the convergence are provided.The second part analyzes the significance of convergence.First,the structure of information industry will be upgraded and people can enjoy more and more new products and services which are mainly characterized as informationalization, networklization,intelligence and diversity.Counterly speaking,the great market demand will push the convergence forward.Secondly,the convergence breaks traditional industrial schism which was created and enhanced by industrialization process.Therefore,the previous vertical market structure of information industry is replaced by a horizontal one which leads to a new competition situation and reorganization of resources.Thirdly,by analyzing three basic factors of information resource,information technology and internet platform,the author concludes that an expansion of convergence is going to be realized within larger industrial scope.The third part offers the proposals for how to promote information industry convergence in our country. First,we should develop high&new technology and enhance information infrastructure construction and basic research.Secondly,we should cultivate and support those fresh industries brought about by information industry convergence and promote business convergence and market convergence. Thirdly,three kinds of constructive environment which include governmental regulation,capital market financing and consume should be created and perfected.
