The Pearl River Delta Economic Globalization Process And Its Spatial Variation

The Pearl River Delta has the special location superiority for having trade relations because of abutting Hong Kong and Macao. Through years of development, the Pearl River Delta has formed the bran-new opening structure. It is a good base to enhance the economic globalization degree. The Pearl River Delta will quicken the step to join the global economy. It is not only an opportunity but also a challenge. It is important for the Pearl River Delta to keep its comparative advantage and get over its shortage under the background of economic globalization. It is necessary to grasp the actual status of economic globalization for constituting the reasonable tactics. The paper mainly studies on the process and the spatial differentiation of the Pearl River Delta economic globalization.Chapter 1 is made up of two parts. The first part mainly summarizes some issues about economic globalization on the aspects such as concept, tendency and measurement index. The second part discusses the designment of the thesis which including the meaning, target and method about the research. Chapter 2 recounts the process of constructing the index system. According to the principles such as feasibility and comparability, the paper constructs the index system that relates to trade, capital, production, tour and communication. Chapter 3 analyzes the development and spatial differentiation about extroverted economy in the Pearl River Delta. Chapter 4 analyzes the process and spatial differentiation about economic globalization in the Pearl River Delta. The result shows that it can be marked off three grades on the economic globalization degree among the cities in the Pearl River Delta. DongGuan, ShenZhen and ZhuHai are situated at the first grade; HuiZhou, ZhongShan and GuangZhou are situated at the second grade; FoShan and JiangMen are situated at the third grade. The seating arrangement between economic globalization and economic development level is not completely accordant. The economic globalization seating arrangement of HuiZhou advances most obviously. At the same time, GuangZhou and FoShan back up most clearly. Every city has relative advantage and inferior position in the process of economic globalization. Chapter 5 put forward some suggestions such as harmonious development to settle the questions, which appear in the process of economic globalization. Chapter 6 mainly estimates the index system and summarizes the outcome of the research.
