This paper talks about the development of the 3rd part logistics (TPL) in China. It includes 5 charters.Charter 1 is the introductory remark which discusses the background of this paper, the research in other countries, the purpose and theoretical and practical meanings of such research.Charter 2 is the remark of TPL which introduces the definition, feature, advantage and development trend, etc..Charter 3 is the development strategy of TPL. It discusses that the TPL system is made up of 3 platforms-high efficient operating platform, integrated information platform and supply-chain platform. These platforms are important content of the strategy of TPL and we must build up and improve them. On this basis, the paper talks about the principle, implement and important factors of the 3 platforms. In addition, work flow reengineering and just-in-time (JIT) strategies are introduced because they are important, too.Charter 4 is the development trend of TPL in China and other countries. On one hand, it discusses the development process, character, experience and pattern of TPL in U. S., Japan, European Community and other developed countries. On the other hand, it analyzes the development condition of TPL in China and discusses the strategy in several industries such as traditional storage and transportation, postal service and freight- transport agent industry.The last charter summarizes the main standpoints of this paper.
