PLM is the technology that PDM deepen and develop, in which, product structure management and product configuration management are the key function.Product structure is the kernel concept spanning departments and management. And it is the ligament and bridge connecting each applicational system of PLM. Many information of enterprise production come from product structure, and this clue that has the aid of product structure is retrieved. Product Configuration Management is the development of product structure management, which is also the important function of PLM system. It can aim at the change of market requirement and perfectly satisfy all kinds of requirements for product , makes customer, supplier, cooperative partner and the external manufacturer of enterprise as well as every department of enterprise share unified product configuration in the overall life period of product , and generates the corresponding view of product structure in correspondence with the product definition of different stage, such as design view, assembly view and technology view etc.At first, the paper discusses the PLM system's framework, briefly introduce the main functions of PLM and it's adoptive technologies. Secondly, this paper analyse the characteristic of product structure and product configuration in PLM, and give several methods of establishment of product structure and configuration. Next, Based on Object Oriented Modeling and analysis of then Product Structure and Configuration object, Product Variant Structure model is built and VariantConfiguration Management technology is introducted.At last, combinationmanufacturing industry has realized the partial functions of product mix and disposition management.
