The Relationship Between Risk Factors Of Software Projects And Project Outputs

Information can enhance the management effectiveness, flexibility adaptability and form competitive advantage of enterprises. With the development of information technology, information management is accepted by increasing enterprises and individuals. At present, the development performance of enterprise's information project (especially software project) is unsatisfied, Therefore enterprises have to improve the success probability of software project through risk management. Especially with the entrance to WTO and the operation of "Information Technology Agreement", it is necessary for Chinese IT enterprises to realize the essence and importance of risk management to enhance software project management performance and become competitive in international market.Based on the analysis on plenty of former literature about software project risk management and the characteristic of Chinese software project on current condition, this thesis firstly identified the software project risk factor in the following two different points of view-Owners and Contractors, then assessed the degree of effect on project outcome and the familiarity of risk factor, at last analyzed the correlation between risk factor and project success systemically.The data that demonstration analysis needed is obtained by the methods of interviews and questionnaire survey. As to owners, there are 76 employees from 29 projects participated questionnaire survey, and to contractors, there are 81 employees from 34 projects. Through the analysis on the reason of software project failure , this thesis constructs the frame for software project risk identification; found out the key risk factors based on survey ; through the statistic analysis by SPSS, we draw the conclusion that these key risk factors have profound impact on the success of the software project.
