China's joint-stock commercial banks are one of the outputs of financial system reform, they introduce competition into banking system, make banking system operate more efficiently. However with great changes happening in the external environment and the China's entrance to WTO, they are to meet severe challenges, but at the same time, they are also facing good chances to develop, therefore, how to grasp the chances, make new achievements in reform and development has become an urgent issue for us to work out.This thesis is meant to be an strategy analysis of joint-stock commercial banks, especially those who have came into the market, When comparing with the index of American and Hong Kong banks, the author point out that although the joint-stock commercial banks have achieved rapid growth during the past 20 years, there are still distinctive difference in revenue structure, profitability, liquidity and assets quality between the domestic joint-stock commercial bank and the well-developed international bank, and then discuss how to build core competence through business adjustment, competition & cooperation with foreign bank and internationalization.Business adjustment includes three parts: determining the appropriate developing speed, optimizing business portfolio and developing of the electronic bank. With China becoming an member of WTO, foreign banks embark on China in succession, After analyzing the developing trend of foreign banks, this thesis give some idea how to co-compete with these banks. Meanwhile, according to the agreement of WTO, China also enjoy special treatment in countries of other WTO member., this thesis also tries to provide some constructive suggestions on region, product, clients selection to achieve internationalization...
