With the coming of knowledge economy era, many countries' experts and scholars have focused their attention on knowledge management (KM). KM is important to the forming of enterprise's core competence and the decision making by entrepreneur, so more and more firms begin to build knowledge management system.Based on the research, the paper pointed out that the evaluation of the maturity of KM is very important to the KM system building. Knowing the actuality of KM is the basis of making plan; and finding the weaknesses of KM is the first step to make improvements. According to this instance, the thesis set up the Knowledge Management Maturity Evaluation Model.Firstly this paper analyses the theories of KM and conclude the evaluation method which is used by consulting enterprise. "KM Assessment Tool (KMAT)" developed by Arthur Andersen and American Productivity & Quality Center together and "KM Degree Model" developed by AMT are expounded in detail.Secondly, the paper analyses the theories of Maturity Model. "Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (0PM3)" set up by Project Management Institute (PMI) and "Capability Maturity Model for Software (SW-CMM)" set up by Software Engineering Institute (SEI) are explained in detailAccording to the theories analyzed above, this paper set up the Knowledge Management Maturity Evaluation Model. The KM maturity is divided into five degree: Initial, Repeatable, Defined, Managed and Optimizing. KM is analyses in three layers: Total, Areas and Evaluation Indicators.Finally, using the model, this paper evaluated the KM of enterprise A and gives some suggestions according to the evaluation result. Through analyzing the case, this paper analyzed the practicality of the Knowledge Management Maturity Evaluation Model.
