Abstract/Summary:
Tourism Environmental Effect (also known as Tourism Environment Influence)is an inevitable phenomenon in the development of tourism , and this phenomenon changes constantly along with the development of tourism industry. On the one hand, positive environmental effect of tourism on a tourist destination will foster local infrastructure construction and benefit further tourism development. On the other hand, negative environmental effect will bring a number of problems, including apparent economic impact and potential social and cultural impact. The main content of this dissertation is as follows:Firstly, a summary of the relationship between tourism and environment and an analysis of the tourism environmental problems and their causes, based on reviewing the existing study on this field at home and abroad.Secondly, a preliminary analysis of existing theories of tourism influence on environment, including External Theory, Ecological Theory, Tourism Development Phases, and Tourism Carrying Capacity, etc. as well as roles of these theories on the assessment of environment impact.Thirdly, an analysis of factors involved in tourism environment influence such as tourists, tourist destination, management and so on, underscoring that the overall effect of tourism is the combination result of external factor (tourists) and internal factor (destination),and then the mechanism of tourism effect is discussed.Fourthly, a creative introduction of the aim, significance and principles of comprehensive tourism environment assessment, and a systematic illustration of the two aspects on the assessment, i.e. tourism environment quality assessment and tourism environment influence assessment.Fifthly, in the light of above theories and methods and based on in-situ investigation, a case study of tourism environment was conducted at the Stone Forest Geopark. For the first time the Grey Discerning Model was used in the assessment of the park s water quality, indicating that tourism has effectively improved the park s water environment and also brought positive effect to the local community and economy. Finally, conclusions and a discussion on remaining problems.
