Study On The Three Gorges On The Social Integration Of Migrants

Using the Three Gorges migrants placed in Jiangsu, data collected via field surveys, and relevant research literature, this paper provides a comprehensive description of social integration and development of the immigrants from the Three Gorges Dam areas to Jiangsu Province in three categories including economic and business activities, political and public life, and culture and socio-psychology. It elaborates on the issues of social integration of migrants and explores rules and principles that govern placement of migrants. It also evaluates the living standards and looks into their future on the basis of engineering theories for migrants. In light of the manufacturing and business activities, public life and cultural psychology, and the understanding and acceptance of the local residents, the author provides a detailed analysis of the issues in placement and social integration of migrants and proposes framework of thinking and measures to deal with them.
