ASEAN is one important aspect of China's foreign policy.China' s social stability and economic development needstability and prosperity of the surrounding environment. ASEANas a China' s peripheral important component, its developmentwill have a direct impact to China. In this sense, promotinggood-neighborly and friendly relations with ASEAN countries,deepen bilateral cooperation, is important part of diplomacyfor China to create a favorable surrounding environment, andit is one of the cornerstones for China' s omni-directionaldiplomacy backing. During the Cold War , the relationshipbetween China and ASEAN countries had experienced a flexuousprocess .After the Cold War , as the reconciliation of theinternational and regional situation and desire to establisha good relationship , the Good-neighborly partnership isbecoming better . The constant development of the partnershipbenefits not only the two sides but the Asia-Pacific Region aswell . China and ASEAN countries are neighbors and both aredeveloping countries, they need a peaceful environment to focuson the development of economy . The two sides have a lot in commonon the international and regional affairs, such as history ,culture , economy and politics, which lay a solid foundationfor their constant development. It is undoubted that the twosides have contradictions and differences on some problems suchas the division of South Sea area , Taiwan problem, overseaChinese problem and so on , but this is not themainstream.
