"cultural Taiwan Independence" Ideology Theory Analysis

Recently,as a splittism trend of thought of social culture, Cultural Independence has become more and more intense in Taiwan island and do great harm to the peaceful unification between Chinese mainland and Taiwan. Focusing on the increasingly rampant idea of "Cultural independence", this thesis thoroughly analyzes and studies the theory and practices of this trend of thought from a historical perspective both horizontally and vertically, investigating its origin and actual situation, analyzing its main theoretical viewpoints, revealing its various forms, pointing out its nature and danger, and profoundly criticizing and refuting it from the perspectives of both theory and methodology. This thesis can be divided into four parts. The first part describes the origin of the thought "cultural independence", summarizes the social and political causes of its development, and further evolvement, and analyzes the historical process of Taiwan culture distorting from "the Localization movement" to "Cultural Independence" trend of thought. The second part discusses the essence of "Cultural Independence" trend of thought, revealing its nature of "Breaking away from China" from the historical, cultural, racial and national views. The third part elaborates the various forms of "Cultural independence" trend of thought, discussing and clarifying the means and approaches that Taiwan authorities have adopted to realize "Cultural independence". The last part explores the hazards brought to the cause of cross-Strait peaceful reunification by the "Cultural independence" trend of thought and some measures to deal with them which will provide references and insights into further improving our work toward Taiwan affairs and constraining the "Cultural independence" trend of thought.
