Chen Duxiu In His Later Years The Democratic Thought

Chen Duxiu's thoughts were broad. The democratic thoughts were the core and the most valuable parts of his thoughts. The article try to have a thorough study of Chen Duxiu's democratic thoughts and analyze its evolution. On the basis of the analysis of his democratic contents and the reasons, the article tries to evaluate the value of his democratic thoughts and have an overall study of the regularity of his democratic thoughts.The paper studies the evolution process diachronically and synchronically, the main contents and characteristics of Chen's democratic ideas. The paper also analyzes the complicated reasons, and gives an overall evaluation of his ideas. The methods of historical materialism and comparative study are used.The thesis consists of introduction, text and epilogue.The introduction defines the conception of Chen Duxiu's late years, then illustrates the meaning of the subject and the basic framework of the article, and then makes a clear introduction about the current research of Chen Duxiu's late years democratic study.The text of the thesis is made up of four chapters.Chapter One outlines the evolution process of Chen' s democratic ideas and analyzes it with the changes in the social contradiction and class relationship, and with the rise of the Chinese Revolution. Chen' s democratic ideas have undergone a complicated process. Under the influence of the October Revolution, he changed from a radical democratic to a Marxist. After the failure of the National Revolution, he adopted the political ideas of Trotsky in the year from 1929 to 1937. The article mainly studies his thoughts from Marxist to Trotsky, and from Trotsky to non-partisan.The Chapter Two puts its emphasis on analyzing and studying the major contents of Chen' s democratic ideas. The paper includes six parts. Democracy is the combination of class nature and popularity; The relations between democracy and socialism; And also the relations between proletarian dictatorship and socialist democracy; Freedom is an essential part of democracy which are of great significance to the whole society; The difference between democracy and autarchy; Finally is the idea of developing capitalists economy to create economic conditions for democracy in china.Chapter Three analyzes and studies the complicated reasons of the changes in his democratic ideas. The main reason are as the followings: The appearance of fascism over the world, The Soviot Union' s arbitrary polices to the people and its foreign affairs, Chen' s disagreements and hate to the CPC, Mosco and Trotskyist; Finally is the spread and acceptance of Marxist books to Chen'DuXiu.Chapter Four pays much attention to origin of Marxist democratic ideas. Through comparison of Chen' s democratic ideas ,The article make a conclusion that Chen' s democratic thoughts comes near to the true essence of Marxism and have a profound meaning to China's modernization and democratic construction.
