A Study Of The Debate Between Chen Duxiu And The Central Committee Of CPC After The Failure Of The Great Revolution(1924-1927)

Research on Chen Duxiu has always been a highlight in the CPC history and has gradually been conducted with an objective, fair and just view by the academia because of a growing number of historical materials in recent years. In the past research on Chen Duxiu and Chen Duxiu’s debate with the Central Committee of CPC, seldom of them might conduct research from the perspective of handling disagreements within the CPC in a proper way. While, this paper will hold the perspective above-mentioned to make a in-depth analysis of what caused the debate, where their bone of contention was, and how the CPC dealt with these disagreements or divergence in the debate event after the failure of the Great Revolution(1924-1927). And we may upgrade the analysis of the historical event to a theoretical level, for which we can theoretically expound how the CPC process these different opinions or expressions within the debates in a proper approach. The in-depth analysis of the causes, progress and results of the debate event means great in theory and reality to fully carry forward inner-party democracy, and further more offers a correctly theoretical reference for a better development of the inner-party democracy construction. This paper can be divided into four parts:Part 1: the origin of the debate between Chen Duxiu and the Central Committee of CPC. This part mainly discuss the development of CPC within the period of the Great Revolution:(1)the CPC had began to explore the localized Marxism in China in the CPC’s initial stage;(2)the process and causes of Chen Duxiu’s left from the the Central Committee of CPC;(3)left-leaning mistakes had already been arisen within the party before the failure of the Great Revolution which had built a foundation for the debate between Chen Duxiu and the Central Committee of CPC.Part 2: the subject of the debate between Chen Duxiu and the Central Committee of CPC. We expound the two parties’ divergence and other debates on the Chinese revolution at that time, and analyze their contradictions on publicity strategy and principles of the “mid-east event”, and then specify the different main points arisen from the Ttotskyite theory respectively held by themselves.Part 3: the settlement of the debate between Chen Duxiu and the Central Committee of CPC. This part firstly underlines the theoretical basis of the debate settlement, and secondly expounds CPC’s practice and exploration of maintaining the inner-party ideological integrity, and at last analyze how and why the Central Committee of CPC settle the debate.Part 4: the enlightenment of the debate between Chen Duxiu and the Central Committee of CPC. We should correctly treat the different opinions or expressions and forcefully opposed faction within the CPC so as to avoid the organizational and factional issues evolved from different opinions. Besides, a normalized and processed expression system must be established so that party members can freely show their own opinions and also they must follow the party’s organizational principles and disciplines.
