During Bush's administrative term U.S.-India relationship has been remarkably improved in that there have been increased exchange visits and contacts of leaders of both parts. Moreover, a cooperation protocol on civil utilization of nuclear technology was signed, which astounded the while world. This dissertation aims to find out the reason why U.S.-India relationship has changed so much. The essay will analyze the current situation of Asia, discuss the national interests and policy objective of U.S., investigate American foreign policy, and finally get to the conclusion that there is a multi-polar situation in Asia. The improvement of U.S.-India relationship will facilitate a balance of power situation in Asia so as to restrict China, which is in U.S. interest. On the regional level, the cooperation between two countries will contribute to the fight against proliferation of nuclear weapons and terrorism. However, the relationship will not develop so far as to alignment.
